The 2025 AKSE Book Prize was co-awarded (in alphabetic order) on June 21, 2025, to Dr. Jamie Doucette (University of Manchester), for his book, The Postdevelopmental State : Dilemmas of Economic Democratization
in Contemporary South Korea (published by the University of Michigan Press, 2024), and to Dr. Isabelle Sancho (L’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales), for her book, The Master from Mountains and Fields: Prose Writings of Hwadam, Sŏ Kyŏngdŏk (published by the University of Hawai’i Press, 2022). An honorable mention was given to the book by Dr. Michael M. Prentice (University of Sheffield), Supercorporate: Distinction and Participation in Post-Hierarchy South Korea (Stanford University Press, 2022).
