All scholars – including graduate students who have completed their required coursework, passed their qualification exams and are conducting dissertation research – are eligible to apply. Applications are open to scholars in fields of the humanities and the social sciences who have well-developed research interests in pre-modern Korean (or related area) studies; however, preference will be given to applicants who can work on the various Korea, Chinese and Japanese sources stored in the Jangseogak Archives. The successful candidates will conduct their own research and present their work at a public Jangseogak talk. The fellowship requires full-time commitment, and fellows must reside at the AKS for at least fifteen days each month. Jangseogak will reimburse a round-trip economy airfare ticket (excluding scholars who are currently in Korea), a stipend of 2,500,000 won per month, and an office space. Fellows may also apply for accommodation at the AKS Guest House, and in this case a 50% discount will be available for applicants staying at the Guest House.
