We mourn for Alexandre Guillemoz who passed away peacefully and painlessly in the company of his family on the evening of July 21. Professor Guillemoz, an anthropologist by speciality who has been publishing on Korea since the 1970s, was one of the founding fathers of French Koreanology in the latter part of the twentieth century. He served in leadership positions for Korean Studies at L’École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), Paris, from 1994 to 2006 and served as President of the Association for Korean Studies in Europe from 2003 to 2007. The AKSE Council will provide a fuller obituary when it is available.
